1 in 4 smartphones sold in UK are iPhone 4S

According to a study form market research firm Kantar Worldpanel (btw, horrible full flash site), Apple, in the UK, is gaining smartphone market share from Android and now holds 29.1% of all smartphone sales.

What is more interesting is that out of all the smartphones sold in Britain, almost 1 in 4 are iPhone 4Ss. Not bad for a “minimal” upgrade.

This last quarter ending on the 22 of January marks the first time UK customers bought more smart than non-smart phones. 71.4% to be more precise.

The analyst firm also points out that Windows Phone is also gaining ground in the UK, now with almost 2%. They predict that number will grow 4 fold, to 8%, by the end of this year. I certainly hope they do well, if anything else, to get people away from Android!
