Apple now changing iPad ad campaign in UK

On April 9, 2012, in iPad, legal, uk, by Marlon Sabala

Apparently, the Cupertino company has received enough pressure by the UK’s Advertising Standards Authority, that they are actually substituting any reference to “4G” on iPad 3rd Gen ads to “Ultra-Fast wireless” or “Full speed ahead”.

According to the Financial Times, the ASA has already received 24 formal complaints and Apple is now sending out revised signage and handouts to advertising partners.

I have to say, I normally think these ASA cases are over the top, but this one actually could be deceiving people, making them think they are gonna get something now, that will only be available in the UK in about a year.

I just checked it out myself. You are right, they have indeed replaced it, but then I went to the Specs Site and there it still says 4G :) At least at this time, but they might be working on it right now, I will check it again tomorrow.

  2. Mokkabee says:

Well… they haven’t change it yet on their specs site http://www.apple.com/uk/ipad/specs/

This can only mean, wether they decided to leave it this way there, or they don’t care :)
